I cannot sleep
but thoughts
of you nibble
into my soul.
Every night
you are there
in my dreams.
Where shall
we go tonight
my love? Another
flight of pure fancy.
Yet again I wake
to the hard truth;
you are no longer
here.

Tonight for d/Verse https://dversepoets.com/2022/02/07/quadrille-145/. We are given the word nibble to make a quadrille: a 44 word poem.
Touching, and this nibbling bittersweet.

Beautiful and heartbreaking. I especially like the first stanza – such lovely words. Nicely done.

Thank you Arcadia. He has been gone almost 14 years but the dreaming does not stop.

Benita – my father died ~3.5 years ago, and I can imagine my mother writing these words (although she doesn’t write poetry)… this is very poignant.

How sweet that this brought for you, a reflection for your mother. You honour me. Thank you.

This pulled at my heart. Loss has to be the hardest truth to bear. I’ve always found comfort in thinking of grief as the greatest love you can have for someone, no matter how it changes with time, the love remains. How beautiful that it lives in your dreams.

Hi Mish, When we lost Pat, my husband, I was in the world of total grief for two years. I felt myself pull away from of the period. Not to say grief doesn’t return but in different forms.
