I Find Myself Adoring Tractors
Check your “messenger” messages. It is the school holidays.
Here a little girl and her brother are Skyping their Nanny, that’s me.
They sing songs to me. The little boy, not yet at school, is practising
new words he has just learnt from a big book and he points to a tractor.
Because he is in love with tractors. I too find myself falling in love with a tractor.
Look at the bright eyes of his sister at the end of her first school term.
Brother is now chasing her down the yard waving a big leaf.
It is harvest time where they live. I ask their Mummy to gather a melon, two melons and then to draw for each a face.
Skyping session finished for today.
Among the things I adore are tractors and little boys
And bright a bright five-year-old taking her first school holiday.
And I hum the melody the children were singing to me
